Frederick O. Terrell is Senior Advisor and former Executive Vice Chairman of Investment Banking and Capital Markets at Credit Suisse. In this capacity he is responsible and has served as advisor for the Bank’s global banking relationships with some of its largest and most admired clients. In addition to corporate advisory work, he has an extensive background in structured products, asset securitization and capital markets and is the former Head of Mortgage Finance at CS First Boston. He is currently a member of Credit Suisse’s Investment Banking Committee, Managing Director Promotion Committee and the Board of Trustees of the Credit Suisse Americas Foundation. Fred began his career as an Associate with The First Boston Corporation in 1983 and was promoted to Managing Director in 1993. From 1997 to 2008, he was Founder and Managing Partner of Provender Capital Group, LLC which made private equity investments in emerging growth oriented companies on behalf of major institutional investors.
He is a former member of the Board of Directors for the New York Life Insurance Company (2003 – 2010); Wellchoice, Inc. (2001 – 2005); Carver Bancorp Inc. (2000 – 2005) Inc., where he served as Chairman of the Board of the largest African American managed bank in the United States. He is a former member of the University Council of Yale University and former Chairman of the Board of the Coro Foundation, New York Leadership Center. He is currently a member of the Board of Advisors of the Yale School of Management where he received the School’s Inaugural Alumni Service Award and was the graduation commencement speaker in 2001, Board of Directors of the Partnership for New York City, Board of Directors of the Partnership Fund for New York City; Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City and for the Zara Center, a community center for AIDS inflicted families living in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. He is a member of The Economic Club of New York City, the Board of Directors of the Center for a New America Security (CNAS) a non-partisan defense policy think tank and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). For many years he has been on the Black Enterprise Magazine’s lists for Top African American Corporate Executives in America and Top Black Bankers on Wall Street.
He earned his B.A. degree from La Verne College, an M.A. degree from Occidental College and his M.B.A. from the Yale School of Management. He is a 1977 Coro Foundation Fellow in Public Affairs.
