Marva Smalls is Global Head of Inclusion Strategy for Viacom as well as Executive Vice President of Public Affairs and Chief of Staff for Nickelodeon. With more than three decades of leadership experience and an extensive political background on the state and national level, Smalls is widely recognized as one of the most influential leaders in media. Her global role for Viacom regularly connects Smalls with elected officials, advocates and regulators around the world.

Marva has held prominent positions in state government in South Carolina and served as the first African-American Chief of Staff to a white southern member of congress. She has served on the Democratic National Committee and was a super delegate in the ‎2008 Democratic National Convention. Smalls’ passion for supporting education, the arts and community activism includes, among many other engagements, the Marva Smalls Endowment, the Ronald McNair Center at the University of South Carolina as well as board memberships with the Performing Arts Center in Florence, S.C., Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York, the American Theater Wing and the International African American Museum opening in Charleston, South Carolina in 2021. She is also a corporate board member with the National Bank of South Carolina. Marva is regularly sought after to lend her expertise on matters of global corporate citizenship, diversity and inclusion strategy, politics and policy.
