WASHINGTON, DC – (January 18, 2023) The Black Economic Alliance (BEA), a nonpartisan group of Black business leaders and aligned advocates, released the following statement celebrating the historic inauguration of former BEA board member Wes Moore as Maryland’s first Black governor and the third Black governor elected in the United States:

“The historic inauguration of Maryland Governor Wes Moore is a victory for Black communities and all people who advocate for economic equity.

“BEA PAC was proud to endorse Governor Moore, whose comprehensive work, wages, and wealth platform to improve economic equity for Marylanders mirrors BEA’s mission.

“As a former BEA Board Member, public and private sector leader, and candidate, Wes Moore has consistently demonstrated his commitment to creating inclusive economic growth for Black Americans. As just the third Black Governor elected in the history of the United States, his lived and professional expertise have prepared him for this seat with an unparalleled understanding of our community’s needs. We look forward to partnering with the Moore-Miller Administration on their path to creating a more inclusive, resilient democracy and economy for all Marylanders – one which can be a model for our nation.”
