WASHINGTON, D.C. –– The Black Economic Alliance, a nonpartisan coalition of Black business leaders and aligned advocates, released the below statement from CEO Samantha Tweedy congratulating the new leadership of the Congressional Black Caucus:
“Congratulations to Representative Yvette D. Clarke on her election as the next Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus and welcome to the new members of the Executive Committee. Under her leadership and the efforts of outgoing Chair Steven Horsford, the CBC will begin the next Congress with the largest membership in history — including the first two concurrently serving Black women in the history of the United States Senate.
“The Black Economic Alliance is also grateful to Chair Horsford for his leadership in advancing a Black wealth and economic prosperity agenda in Congress. Earlier this year, BEA released its Policy Agenda to Advance Black Work, Wages, and Wealth and within weeks, concurrent resolutions outlining the tenets of a Black wealth agenda were introduced in the House and Senate thanks to the CBC’s efforts.
“We look forward to continuing our partnership with the Congressional Black Caucus in the 119th Congress to grow the economy by prioritizing Black economic prosperity and preserving the pathways to opportunity we have built while creating new ones.”
